About Me

I am a behavioral ecologist, interested in how stressors like heavy metals, fear, and parasites alter the ability of organisms to avoid predators. Research in my lab currently is centered on two main questions, 1) do heavy metals from mining pollution interfere with the ability of aquatic pulmonate snails to detect predators, and 2) do frightening experiences during a snail's early growth, impact its ability later in life to respond appropriately to predators and heavy metals. Lately my students and I have also explored the impact of white-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus) on the spread of invasive plants.
