The Gonzaga University Biology Department is located in Hughes Hall, which underwent a recent $14 million expansion and renovation, completed in 2004. The building houses teaching laboratories and research facilities that support faculty and student research projects. Biomolecular labs feature instrumentation for fluorescent microscopy and digital imaging, DNA sequencing and tissue culture facilities. Organismal and ecology labs feature walk-in environmental growth chambers, an aquatics ecology facility, and a greenhouse.
