Biology Research
For the most current information, please see Undergraduate Research
Most faculty members in the Biology Department maintain active research programs.
Student participation in these programs usually begins during the summer, when student work full-time for 10-12 weeks, and many students continue their projects into the following academic year.
Students involved in summer research are expected to prepare a poster presentation for the annual Murdock College Science Research Program Conference,
which is usually held during October or November at a college in the Northwest. See individual faculty pages for a description of current and
past research projects. Students usually receive either academic credit or a modest stipend for the summer, paid either from research grants awarded to individual faculty or from the
Gonzaga Science Research Program (GSRP). For further information about GSRP and the Murdock Conference, contact the
GSRP administrator, Dr. Howard Glass.
In addition, research experiences are available across the country! While we encourage you to apply to our research program, positions are limited.
Thus motivated students and those looking for a change in scenery, should check out the website below for National Science Foundation supported research programs for undergraduates.
These programs specifically recruit/target students from undergraduate institutions such as Gonzaga.
